How to slow down aging?

Dr Jean-Marc Lemaitre, Director of research at the Functional Genomics Institute, looks at the correct methods to adopt to slow down aging of the skin. Part of our aging is genetic and inevitable, but another, the main part, is generated by our environment and can be avoided.

Discover the potential strategies to stop the effects of aging.

There are two strategies available to avoid the damage of your genome (that is the totality of your genes) and early senescence of your cells. The first solution is the use of anti-oxidant vitamins such as E or C. These vitamins can be applied directly to the skin because they are found in cosmetics. The second strategy is to avoid exposure to UV as much as possible, because of its role as a source of harm to our genome.
